Shapes getting distorted when Copy + Paste

Hi,

I am going through something that never happened to me before in Excel. I insert a shape (let's say a square for example but I have the same issue with all the shapes). Then I want to have a an identical square side by side. When I copy and paste the new square (or whatever shape) does not come in the same exact size as the previous one. When I try to manually adjust the size of the shape, Excel simply doesn't accept my command and decimals on the sizing never match. If it accepts my command on the height size, it changes the width even if the 'lock aspect ratio' box is not checked. And to make things even more weird, if I get lucky enough to paste a shape exactly like the original one, it gets completely distorted when I try to move it and put it side by side with the original one.

What you see below is a bunch of hexagons that I simply copied and pasted.

Hope someone can help me with it.

Cheers,

Fabio

    Hi Fabio,

Thank you for posting back and attaching the screenshots to describe the details of the issue.

From your screenshots, the copied rectangle's size changes.

I have tested in same version 2002(Build 12527.21104) of Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel of Excel from my side and I cannot reproduce. I also tried other different shapes.

    Below is my test result:

    You may try following:

1.Go to File>Options>Advanced>Display>select the checkbox for "Disable hardware graphic acceleration">click OK.

2.Use Windows Update to update your graphics drivers. (Windows Settings>Update & Security)

3.Perform a clean boot on Windowsto determine if there is any background program causing the issue.

    4.Try reinstall Office.

In addition, are you using 32-bit Office or 64-bit Office?

Thanks for your effort and have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Tina

    Hi Fabio,

Thank you for sharing the experience with us.

From the information provided, when you try to copy and paste shapes in Excel, they don't display in the same size as the previous one.

I have tested in Current Channel, Version 2008(Build 13127.20508) of Excel, below is a screenshot of my test result. I insert shapes from Insert tab>Shapes.

I copy and paste shapes by using Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V. Below screenshot is the result that I simply copy and paste. And there is no issue when I try to move the shape and put it side by side.

So it seems I cannot reproduce the issue.

I'd like to suggest you try following methods:

1.Firstly, please ensure you are using the latest version of Office. You may click File>Account>Update Options>Update Now to see if there is any update available.

2.Create a new workbook, see if same issue happens when you copy and paste shapes.

3.Try to open Excel app in safe mode, you may refer to this article.

Safe mode turns off all add-ins, if issue doesn't happen in safe mode, it should be caused by an Excel add-in.

4.TryOnline Repair Office to see if the issue can be fixed.

If issue persists, for further troubleshooting, could you please provide the following information?

1.Does the issue happen in a specific workbook or all workbooks?

2.What is the version of your Office? Please click File>Account, then capture a full screenshot of Product Information.

3.From your description, the issue didn't happen in previous. What changes did you do before issue happens? (Install any program on computer?)

    Appreciate your time and effort.

    Best regards,

    Tina

    Hello Tina,

Just tried to follow your suggestions. It did not work out. Please find snapshots attached.

Answering your question, my PC was refreshed one month ago. I cannot precise if I have worked with this PC without facing this issue. Probably not, but I am just guessing here. It's a Dell 5490 Core i5 7th Gen what I have now.
