    Hi EuniceABCQ,

Thank you for querying in this forum.

According to your description, it seems that you are trying creating Descriptive statistic in Excel, however, when you changed the name of Output Range, there is an error message.

If my understanding is right, we have tested it on our side, and we created a simple data > went to Data > Data Analysis > Descriptive Statistics > selected input and Output from another workbook, as shown below:

Given this situation, we’d give you some suggestions below and hope that will help you:

You can rename the name of another workbook with test and open this workbook, then you can go to Descriptive Statistics > select Output and click a cell in test workbook to check if the same problem will occur.

If the same problem still persists after trying renaming workbook, you can also create a new workbook to check if the same problem, this all Excel files have the same problem, this issue may be related to Excel client, we’d give you some suggestions below and hope that will help you:

    1. We’d suggest you refer to this article: Update history for Microsoft 365 Apps to achieve the latest version of Office. Then you can update your Office to the latest version to check if the same problem will occur.
    2. You can open your Excel in safe mode to check if the same problem will occur. It will help in identifying an add-in or extension that may be causing a problem on startup. As steps shown below: Right-click the Start button (lower-left corner) in Windows, and click Run.> In the Run box, type one of the command: excel**/safe**
    3. You can use Online Repair to fix the Office application. Repair an Office application.

If the same problem still persists after trying the suggestions above, to better understand your situation, could you provide the information below?

    1. Could you provide the Product Information and version of your Excel? You can go to Excel > File > Account and provide the screenshot of it. As shown below:
    2. Do all files have the same problem? You can create a new Excel file to check if the same problem will occur.
    3. Could you provide the name of another workbook so we can test it on our side?

    Best Regards,

    Sukie
