I have a large I-beam cursor on screen, black outline, white fill. I have tried multiple times in Windows Settings to undo this and have even restarted the PC.

Any suggestions? Image attached.

There's only one way to get a cursor that looks like the one in the post: Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Mouse pointer, choose the multicolor pointer box, click the plus sign of the "Pick a custom pointer color" line, and use the color picker to choose white.

Fortunately, reversing this is simple: Just click either of the first two boxes under "Change pointer color". The leftmost one is the Windows default, which will also restore the I-beam text cursor.

    Hi Kathleen,

Thank you for reaching out. I'm Adie, an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be happy to help you out.

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. Does this also occur in any other Office apps?

In the meantime, please try changing the mouse pointer settings in the Control Panel by following these steps and see if it helps.

    1. Go to the Control Panel.
    2. Select Mouse.
    3. On the Mouse properties dialog box, select the Pointers tab.
    4. Under Customize, choose Text Select.
    5. Click Use Default.
    6. Click Apply and OK.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

    Best regards,

    Adie

See if you have inadvertently enabled any of the Ease of Access settings in Windows.
