How to fix Can't find project or library

Every so often I get the error in excel 365 "How to fix Can't find project or library" once I open the file and it won't let me save it.

I have to manually transfer the file into an older version until the error decides to come up weeks or months later.

How can this be fixed?

Andres

    Hi,

    Welcome to our community.

According to your description, you seem unable to save Excel file and got the error, generally we can save file without any problem in Excel version 2103, we’ll try our best to help you troubleshoot it.

To narrow down, please ensure you are usingthe latest version of Excel and check again.

Besides, I notice someone fixed this via Online Repair, if convenient, you might have a try and see the result.

Meanwhile, we would like to confirm some information with you:

    1. Please provide the screenshot of the error you received.
    2. Go to Excel> click File> Account> capture the screenshot of full Produce Information page here.
    3. Whether all worksheets or the specific certain one has the issue? Including a complete new one?
    4. Do other types of files like Word, PowerPoint and etc., also cannot save normally and get the prompt?

If there has any misunderstanding, please point out and  feel free to contact us if you still have concern.😊

    Best regards,

    Gloria

    Hello Gloria,

Thanks so much for replying.  I was able to save the file my removing all the Macros from this file, I will put them back later on and see if the error come back and can get screen shots.

    Related to your questions below:

    1. Please provide the screenshot of the error you received. - unable to do this, I will do it if the error comes back in the future
    2. Go to Excel> click File> Account> capture the screenshot of full Produce Information page here. -

    1. Whether all worksheets or the specific certain one has the issue? Including a complete new one? all worksheets in workbook. New workbooks are fine, I'm able to save the new ones.
    2. Do other types of files like Word, PowerPoint and etc., also cannot save normally and get the prompt? no, just the one excel workbook. Even though, I was able to save and work on another excel files as well.

    Hi again,

Just to add more details - I'm showing this <no name specified> on my VBA references menu. Once I checked it the workbook crashes and once I re-open it the same error is still there.

    Hi,

Really appreciate your effort to post back, please do not mind my late reply as weekends.

From your screenshot, I notice you are using Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel which is the not the latest version according to Update history for Microsoft 365 Apps (listed by date), so to continue narrowing down, we suggest you update it to the latest one and see the result.

Besides, you can refer to this thread for more information: Excel VBA: Can't find project or library

If the issue still persists after updating, we’d suggest you use a new user profile to isolate whether the issue relates to your old profile or not.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

    Best Regards,
