SharePoint Upload taking really long

Hello,

We have a document library in which we submit weekly report in powerpoints, and submit each as a new version on the previous file. We have switched the default view to the classic version for certain purposes.

We are trying to upload a powerpoint into the previous file as the new version (we have done this many times before) and it is showing the message below.

Any idea why this is happening?? Could there be a limit to how many new versions we can upload for one file?

Very urgent.

    Dear Tanushka,

    Welcome to the forum here.

Based on the message, it seems that you are using SharePoint Server.

May I know whether you are using SharePoint Online or SharePoint Server? If you are using SharePoint Server, we have a specific channel office-sharepoint-server-itpro - Microsoft Q&A coping with SharePoint Server related issues and questions, I suggest you post a new thread there for expert help.

If you are using SharePoint Online, may I know whether the issue happens in a specific site? If you upload a smaller file, will the issue go away in your environment? Do all users in your tenant experience the same issue?

    Best Regards,

    Cliff

    Hello Cliff,

We use SharePoint online, and so far it looks like the problem only occurs sometimes on a specific document library.

After switching back to the modern experience, it uploaded but we would like the documents to upload properly on both version - classic and modern. So far two of the four have experienced it.

Because it's a weekly report being uploaded as a new version of the previous file, the sizes vary but it's not extremely large.

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks,

    Tanushka

    Dear Tanushka,

    Thanks for your updates.

From your description, it seems that the issue only happen with two users in the classic UI in this specific site library. If yes, may I know whether the issue happens with them when they use other browsers? Are they in a different network environment from the users who can upload the files in the classic UI?

I also suggest you let them clear the browser cache, re-sign into portal.office.com with their accounts and do a test to see the result.

If it is convenient, I suggest you let the administrator run Revoke-SPOUserSession in SharePoint Online Management Shell, wait some time and then let them re-sign into portal.office.com with their accounts and do a test to see the result.

Do they have the same site permissions and the library permissions as the users who can upload the files in the classic UI?

    Best Regards,

    Cliff
