Sharepoint Admin not able to access admin center

Question

Hi,

We are having a strange issue with the Admin Center of a client of ours. 

When we assign the Sharepoint Administrator role to a (fully licensed) user, the user is unable to login to the Sharepoint Admin Center. We waited for more than 24 hours to be sure that the changes were active, but that was no solution.

The page throws a "<username> does not have permissions to access this resource."

Also logging in to the Onedrive Admin Center results in a "You need to be an admin." notification.

When we upgrade the user with 'Global Admin' rights, the Sharepoint Admin Center is accessible. 

How can we arrange that the user can access the Sharepoint Admin Center with only the Sharepoint Administrator role ?

Thanks for your effort to provide the details with us, we'll try our best to help you troubleshoot.

With your concern that the SharePoint admin unable to access the SharePoint admin center, we did the test and granted a member with SharePoint admin role, he can access the SharePoint admin center without any problem.

Given this situation, we suggest the user try different browsers or the inPrivate windows mode to check the result again.

To continue narrowing down, could you please provide the below information?

1. Do other users who have the SharePoint admin role cannot access SharePoint admin center? Please check with other users.
2. Please provide the screenshot of the error message.
3. When did the issue happen?

Thank you for your reply. In answer to your questions:

1. Do other users who have the SharePoint admin role cannot access SharePoint admin center? Please check with other users. We assigned the Sharepoint Administrator role to another user as well and can confirm that he also cannot access the Sharepoint Admin Center
2. Please provide the screenshot of the error message.

3. When did the issue happen? We assigned the role only just recently last week, but the problem may have been there longer off course.

Please do not mind my late reply due to weekend, in terms of your issue, as we still cannot reproduce it, I notice you’ve test with another user but still cannot access the SharePoint Admin Center, to further assist you resolve it ASAP, we think the issue could be resolved from the back end, while our forum has limited resources with back end, so we sincerely suggest you( the admin) to create a ticket for more dedicated assistance, this is the most efficient way to solve this.
