Sharepoint template library as default in Word

Hello,

we converted a Sharepoint's document library into a template library allowing an easy share of corporate templates throughout the company.

Now, when I want to create a new Word document, I do correctely see the tab containing the corporate templates.

My question is: can I move this tab at first/default position in order to let users see this as the default proposal?

Any help will be greately appreciated.

    Perhaps, but...

This would require a Registry edit on each computer and will not put your sharepoint templates as the first button in Backstage, but will show your templates as the default templates for choice.

See Registry Hack for Backstage to Show Custom Templates by Default and try using the value of "2" instead of the "1" shown on my page for Custom templates.

Note, I do not have SharePoint and am guessing here. If it does not work, it can be changed back to 0 or 1.

It is possible that this can be done using Group Policies, but that is beyond the scope of my knowledge.

    Hello Charles,

Thank you very much for your help.

I tried what you suggested, unfortunately any value grater than 1 doesn’t seem to get considered and it defaults back to the “Office” tab.

I am going to have a try on the sister site as per your kind recommendation.

Thank you! And by the way, you wrote a great article.
