Hello,

Teachers have been experiencing Office 365 issues with the students accounts. When teachers create anexternal tool assignment from their OneDrive students get an error message in their canvas assignment and are not able to complete the assignment.  Could you please advice what to do?

    Hi Hilda,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

Per your description, it seems that when creating an external tool assignment from OneDrive, the students get the error with canvas assignment and unable to complete the assignment.

Considering your case, to narrow down whether the issue is related to Canvas or other factors, we would like to suggest you upload the same problematic Word document to OneDrive and try open it in the web to see the result.

In addition, if convenient, you can also check this similar one: Something went wrong, check your connection and try again

Besides, may I know all files or just this specific file gets the issue?

Appreciate your effort to share any information with us. 😊

    Best regards,

    Gloria

    Hello-

I have several students (but not all of my students) experiencing the same issue as Hilda in the above post.  The error message looks identical.  It is true with about 1/3 of my students, and seems to be true for all of their embedded assignments between Office 365 documents (already on OneDrive) and Canvas.  They were not experiencing this issue with the same assignments last week.  Do you have any advice for how I (or they) might fix this?  Thank you!

    Hi Gloria,

Unfortunately, the issue has not been resolved. We did what you suggested but that did not work. Other teachers are experiencing the same situation. After working with our IT department and reaching out to MS and Canvas support team there doesn't seem to be a clear answer. Our next steps are to remove office 365 from the course navigation and re-install with the consumer and shared key. Thank you for monitoring the thread, if you know of any other solutions please advice. Thank you in advance.

    kind regards,

    Hilda Ocampo

    Hi Hidla &Tyler,

Thanks for posting back and sharing the above information with us, regarding to your issue, like we talked before, if the problematic file which upload to OneDrive has no problem, the issue mainly relates to Canvas, we are willing to help but the forum you post which handles issue with OneDrive built-in features, to save your time and resolve it ASAP,  it’s better to contact Canvas Support again to get more dedicated assistance, and we also welcome any community members to share new ideas with us.

    Appreciate your cooperation again!😊

    Please take care of yourself!

    Best regards,

    Gloria
