Forms not duplicating

Hi! I created quizzes in Forms. Last week, I was able use the duplicate feature to share the quizzes with other people. Today, I shared the duplicate link and it would not work. Pasting the link into the address bar of a different browser allowed the person to open the form (not edit, just open to duplicate). She could click the duplicate button at the top and bottom of the form, but the file would not duplicate into her account. When you click the duplicate button, it took her to her account and showed other forms in her account, but not the new one. We refreshed the screen and no luck. We tried this with several other accounts with no success. I could not duplicate any of my forms today. Thoughts???

Thanks

Debra

    Hi Debra,

    Welcome to the Answers community.

Please check the following steps and confirm if you followed the same steps to create sharing link to share a quiz as a template

    1. In Microsoft Forms, open the quiz you want to share as a template.
    2. Click Share.
    3. On the Share pane, click Get a link to duplicate.
    4. Click Copy next to the text box that displays a form URL.

When another uses this link and paste it in a browser, they can see the form and once clicked Duplicate it at the top or bottom of the form ![](https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/6801887e-26ef-407d-b711-5ed3e168dcbe?platform=QnA"https://forms.office.com/Pages/DesignPage.aspx" rel="ugc nofollow">https://forms.office.com/Pages/DesignPage.aspx. Please correct me if I misunderstood anything.

Besides, please confirm the following information:

    1. May I know whether you are creating the sharing link from your work or school account or personal Microsoft account?
    2. Can you (the owner of the form) generate the sharing link to share a quiz as a template?
    3. For the test purpose, please try generating the link for another quiz or form and then share this link with others, check if others can create duplicate for the new link. This will help us confirm if the issue with a specific link or the other links have the same issue.
    4. If possible and if it does not have any sensitive info, please provide us with the link, we’ll check if we can create the duplicate form.

    Regards

    Neha

Hi. Yes, I followed the steps. I am using a personal account. I can generate the link and share the link. I sent it to other people and they could not duplicate it. I generated new links and they did not work either. I had someone send me a link to a form they created and I could not duplicate their form.

Here is one of my links.

    Thanks

    Hi Debra,

    Thanks for the information.

We tested on our end, we tried creating the template from the link you provided and we experienced the same behavior that your mentioned i.e. we are unable to create duplicate form when using Microsoft personal account. However, the same link lets us create the duplicate form when we use our Microsoft 365 account (work or school account).

Since you are using personal account, we will move this post to Microsoft 365 and Office>Forms category for further support.

    Regards,

    Neha

Thank you. So, does the duplication feature only works with a business or school account?

    Debra
