Hello,

Could you please help me finding answers for below questions?

  1. Why the scope of route table is regional not global ? I meant why RT needs to be created for each region. Latency could be one reason, any other reason you can think of?
  2. If RT scope is regional by design, why there is no option to clone a RT? May be we can create ARM template and then reuse it ? Any other options in your knowledge.

Appreciate your insightful response, thank you !!

@anil kumar , Sorry I missed to add the region limitation over there. Yes, you can associate any number of subnets to a route table if corresponding VNETs and route table are under same region.
Actually what I was asking why there isn't a easy way recreate a route table into another region --> As of today we have only few Azure services to move across regions and our team is actively working on them to extend. For now, we have only two moving options on RT (i.e.) across Subscriptions or Resource groups.

@anil kumar , Apologies for the inconvenience caused. From the ask it looks like you are looking for a feature update on route table where you should be able to assign a common single RT to multiple subnets at a time. This is not possible today. If there are ten subnets, then you should create 10 RT separately. Your valuable feedback has been passed to the product team and they are actively looking into it. And yes, RT's are confined to regions to minimize the latency.
