DearSupport,

As per this data, a customer data is recoverable till 180 days max, so that means 6 month, so incase he rtakes fresh license in same expired tenant after 5 months of expiry , will he get back all data by default or he has to open ticket and request for data, or its chargeable after certain timeframe?

Please clarify pointwise

Subscription Retention

In the term of an active subscription, a subscriber can access, extract, or delete customer data stored in Microsoft 365. If a paid subscription ends or is terminated, Microsoft retains customer data stored in Microsoft 365 in a limited-function account for 90 days to enable the subscriber to extract the data. After the 90-day retention period ends, Microsoft disables the account and deletes the customer data. No more than 180 days after expiration or termination of a subscription to Microsoft 365, Microsoft disables the account and deletes all customer data from the account. Once the maximum retention period for any data has elapsed, the data is rendered commercially unrecoverable.

For a free trial, your account moves into a grace status for 30 days in most countries and regions. During this grace period, you can purchase Microsoft 365. If you decide not to buy Microsoft 365, you can either cancel your trial or let the grace period expire, and your trial account information and data is deleted.

Hello Anamika MukherjeeID,

Based on this document: What happens to my data and access when my Microsoft 365 for business subscription ends?, when a subscription expires, it goes through multiple states before it is ultimately deleted. And if the administrator doesn't reactivate the subscription while it is expired or disabled, the subscription is deleted. When the subscription is deleted, all customer data—from user data to documents and email—is permanently deleted and is unrecoverable.

So, if your customer's subscription has expired for 5 months, your customer will not be able to reactivate the deleted subscription or recover his data even after purchasing a new subscription and assign new licenses.

As for the data that can be recovered within 180 days, this is for the active tenant (subscription).

Best regards,

Jennifer
