Access - error message when mail merging

Hi

I have been trying to run a mail merge from access on a cloud based network.  both the database and template are in the same folder on the network.  They run fine when I build them off the cloud, but the moment I move them to the cloud or build them completely new on the cloud I get the same error message, though the pathname specifics might differ.

The window that appears says:  ODBC Microsoft Access Driver Login Failed: Could not find file 'X:\workfiles\new system.mdb'.

I have another database that was built some time ago that does work. The only major difference between the two is that the one that does not work uses a long text field.  Is this an easy fix?  Our computer service centre has no answers.

So if you are using Word to create the actual document, using access as the source. You just change the source to type in the full path as the file name.

Thank you for a response.  The most recent version has not been moved at all.  It has been built in place.

How do I put in the full path?

Hi, I'm Elise, an independent advisor and I'd be happy to help with your issue.

It looks like the mail merge is looking for a data source which is on a mapped network drive X.

The issue is the when you move the file, to another location X might not be accessible to that file.

Often with network locations such as this you need to change the source to use the full UNC path such as \ServerName\workfiles\new system.mdb

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

    Kind Regards,

    Elise
