I am trying to create a feedback form in Excel. I have figured out Drop down menus, check boxes and radio/option buttons, but cannot figure out if there is a fillable text field option for when you protect and share the document. There is in word, but does this exist for excel?

    Dear Melissa,

As Jeovany said, Microsoft Form may be the simplest way for users to submit responses in a form if you have the following Microsoft 365 subscriptions mentioned in the article. The form responses in Microsoft Form can be downloaded to Excel as well. If you have Microsoft Forms in your environment, I suggest you use it instead of Excel as you may need to use VBA code to achieve the same requirements for form data saving in the Excel file.

As there is no text box control in Excel for Mac, you may need to use the text box as a workaround. However, this option will not automatically transfer the data user submitted. You can send the form file to your users by emails and let them email you with the edited form files.

I kindly suggest you submit the feedback of the text box control on the Excel for Mac UserVoice platform to let our product developers know your suggestions and requirements for product improvements. If they have some updates on the feedback you submitted, they will update the information there directly.

Another option may be to use the VBA code to create a user form with the text box control in the Excel for Windows application to see if the VBA code is also applied to the Excel for Mac application if you can't use Microsoft Form in your environment. You may adjust the code to apply the user form workable. We have a specific category Office Development to cope with Excel VBA code related issues and questions. If you need help on the option, I'll move the thread there for you to get expert help.

Thanks for your understanding and have a nice day!

    Cliff

    Hi Melissa

Every cell can act as an input field for text. Simply format a cell as unlocked, then it can be typed in when you protect the worksheet.
