Hi,

I am using Office 365/Mac v 16.42.  I am looking for a way to NOT show comments in ALL cells on an Excel spreadsheet while hovering, and how to turn the hovering feature back on when I want to see the comments while hovering.

Thanks

To be clear,  I would like the little comment icon in the upper right corner to be enabled while hovering is disabled.

    Thanks again

    Hi AZ16,

Thank you for querying in the community.

From your description, it seems you want to show the comment indicator only (the little comment icon in upper-right corner) and disable showing comment when hovering over the cell.

(If I misunderstand anything, feel free to correct me)

I have also tested from my side, unfortunately there is no build-in feature in Excel for Mac to do that. Really sorry for the inconvenience caused by this.

Given this situation, I recommend sharing your valuable feedback by clicking the feedback tool in upper-right corner of Excel, this is the best way to let the Excel developers know your requirements and suggestions, help to improve the product and make it better for you and others.

    Your understanding is appreciated.

In addition, community members who have similar experience are welcome to share insights and suggestions here.

    Best Regards,

    Tina

    Hi AZ16

The setting for showing cell comments is found in Excel > Preferences > View

If this is a setting you wish to change frequently, you can add the command to the Ribbon or Quick Access Toolbar. There may even be a keyboard shortcut for this. Go to the Help menu and search on the term shortcut to see a list of all shortcuts.

    HI,

Comments and indicators shows the comment icon in the cell and reveals the comment on rollover.

Indicators and comments on rollover, seems to me to do the same thing

No comments or indicators shows no icon or comment on rollover

I want the icon to show and the comment not to be exposed on rollover...exposed comments get in the way of viewing other cells on the spreadsheet, which may themselves have comments.

    Thanks
