SharePoint Migration Tool Installtion

Question

Hi All,

I want to Install SharePoint Migration tool in SharePoint 2010 Farm for premigration analysis.

SharePoint Farm is having .Net framework 4.2 and not allowing to install SMAT tool as it requires .Net framework 4.6.2 version or later for SMAT tool migration.

Please let me know if we install higher version of .Net framework in farm , what will be possible impact on my applications running in server.

SharePoint will not use .NET Framework version for which they do not apply. For example, SharePoint 2010 uses .NET Framework 4.2, if you install .NET Framework 4.6.2, it will remain unused in SharePoint 2010.

Therefore, after you have installed the higher version of .NET Framework in the farm, it will not impact on the applications running in the server.
