Data Validation Drop-Down not displaying in correct location.

I am using Data Validation to ensure entries in fields are only able to be a handful of string values. Up until today, the drop down list has worked as expected. I made some edits today to the formatting and such of the sheet, and now drop down lists, when selected on the lower half of my screen, do not display connected to that cell, but at a point higher on the screen. The transition takes place at different positions on my external monitor and laptop - it displays around the middle of my screen on the external monitor, and toward the bottom of my laptop. My guess is that Excel thinks my display is shorter than it is, so is forcing the drop down list to "stay on the screen" by not going below a certain point, when in reality my displays have more pixels below what it thinks is the bottom.

Any help on how to fix this is appreciated! I have tried closing Excel and reopening my files, and tried restarting my computer.

I've attached pictures to show the issue.

    Hi Zachary F,

So sorry for this inconvenience caused to you.

To narrow down the issue, it’s recommended to create a new Excel file with drop down lists.

If the issue doesn’t happen to the new file, it means this issue may be due to your current Excel file. It may be corrupted. Given this situation, you may try to restore the file to previous version.

For your information: Restore a previous version of a file stored in OneDrive - Office Support (microsoft.com)

If the issue also happens to the new file, it means your Excel app may be corrupted. And you may try the following suggestions.

Method 1: Please try to remove cache folder like below:

    1. Close Excel and then open Finder.
    2. Press Command + Shift + G, input “~/Library/Containers”, remove cache folder com.Microsoft. Excel folder to desktop.

(Please note: if you are using Big Sur, the cache folder named Microsoft Excel.)

    1. Open Word, and check if it works correctly.

Method 2: Please launch a safe mode/boot on Mac OS, to check if issue caused by cache or directory issue with startup disk.

If you need further help, feel free to contact me.

And for a better understanding of your situation, may I confirm the following information?

    1. The build and version information of your Mac? (Apple menu > About this Mac)
    2. The build and version information of your Excel? (Excel>About Microsoft Excel)

    Best Regards,

    May

What version of Excel do you have? To find out, go to the Excel menu and choose About Excel.

Does scrolling the workbook a little make any difference?

    Yes, sorry!

Creating a new Excel document and copying my information over into the new doc worked!

Thank you all for the help!
