Integration Issues with SharePoint and Access

Hi all - I have an Access database linked to SharePoint. I use file explorer to navigate to the database and open it - when I make changes to the database and save it again, it creates a new file titled "database title - computer name."

This file is created in both file explorer and the linked SharePoint platform, and on SharePoint it appears as a "newly created file."

As far as I can tell, the new file and the old file are identical (both contain the new edits/changes and all of the "old" data).

This creates obvious problems with a new file created every time I try to edit the database - I end up with a ton of copies and have to make sure I'm not editing a different copy each time (and I am constantly deleting the "new" copies).

I tried converting the database from an accdb file back to a mdb file, thinking it was an issue with Office 365 integration. But the problem persists with the mdb file version as well.

Any help is appreciated!

    Hi KateRiver.

I go through the post carefully. and test on my side by creating a table that linked to a SharePoint list. the .accdb file is saved on local, and the changes in it will synced to the linked SharePoint list. However, I don’t get the copied file in SharePoint like in your description.

Do you use the same way to link SharePoint and access? If not, could you please share more details?

    1. How do you integrate on Access and SharePoint?
    2. May I know where is the file saved? Does it saved in SharePoint/OneDrive sync folder? you may check the related information form File>Info after opening the database.

    Regards,

    Clark
