Hello! The shortcuts ⌘P for powerpoint during presentation mode does not work and other pointer options shortcuts do not work either. The shortcuts are grey (inactive) and not black. How can I active the pointer options shortcuts in Powerpoint? I am using the newest version 16.45. Thank you! Kindest regards A

    Hi A123IQ,

Thank you for querying in this forum.

From your description, it seems that you want to use pointer options shortcuts in PowerPoint for Mac during presentation.

If my understanding is right, we have tested it on our side with the latest version of PowerPoint 16.45, and we created a new PowerPoint file and play it as presentation mode, then we pressed Command + P and it has changed the pointer to a pen, if we pressed Command + A and it changed the pointer to an arrow. All work fine and we cannot reproduce the same situation as yours.

Given this situation, we’d give you some suggestions below and hope that will help you:

    1. You can set up Mac in safe mode according to this article: Start up in safe mode. This can help you troubleshoot whether it is caused by third-party software.
    2. If you are using Big Sur, we’d suggest you try to remove folder : ~/Library/Containers/Microsoft PowerPoint(press command +shift +G and enter the route to go the folder) to remove corrupt caches of the app and check the result. If you are using Catalina, we’d suggest you try to remove folder : ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.PowerPoint(press command +shift +G and enter the route to go the folder) to remove corrupt caches of the app and check the result.

If the same problem still persists after trying the suggestions above, to better understand your situation, could you provide the information below?

    1. Could you provide the version of your Mac OS?
    2. May I know if all PowerPoint files have the same problem? You can create a new file to check if the same problem will occur.

    Best Regards,

    Sukie
