Microsoft Lists - how to create a read-only view?

Hi,

I have a list, now there are two views: one is "all items view" which is only accessible by me, the other is "current logged in user view" where the logged user can only access those items belong to him/her. Now I'm facing a problem, sometimes, someone, like my boss, he wants to see the entire lists, but he does not need to edit it, so I'm wondering, is it possible to create a "ready-only" for all users?

Thanks.

    Hi Youwei,

Thank you for your post in our forum.

Per your description, as per our test, we find that we are so sorry to convey it’s impossible to just create a Read-Only view to control the read-only without edit permission.

However, to implement your requirement, there is another way to realize that you can Edit User Permissions of the List Permission. Here are the steps to change the list permission for your reference.

Open anyone site and click one list > Settings icon at the upper right corner of the window > List settings > Permission for this list under Permissions and Management > Stop Inheriting Permissions > OK > Grant Permissions > Invite people > Share > after adding the people (your boss), you can click his name > Edit User Permissions. Below are the screenshots for your reference.

Additionally, here is the official article where you can get more detailed information about permission for your reference: Customize permissions for a SharePoint list or library.

Hope my answer can help you. While if you have any confusion, please feel free to post back, we will continue to help you. 😊 Have a good day!

    Best regards,

    Cindy
