Wrong Dates Shown on my Line Chart in Excel

I'm making a line chart on excel, and want the date to start at 07/11/20 and end today. However, the dates shown starts at 01/01/00 and ends at 11/16/00. How do I make excel show the right dates? Note: the right dates are shown on my table, but are wrong on the chart. Also note that there are some dates with multiple data points and some dates skipped.

    Hi esong_98,

Thank you for your post in our forum. And we will try our best to help you if we can do something.

Per your description, we test on our end, and it works well. So, we would like to suggest you can double click the Horizontal Axis to open the Format Axis window > click Axis options to see the Bounds, like the below screenshot.

However, if you can’t change the line chart, we would suggest you can create a new workbook to see whether the problem persists, this can help us eliminate the problem of the Excel client app.

If the newly created workbook works well without any problem, we think the problem may be related to the specific workbook. And then you can sign in to Office online in InPrivate or Incognito browser and click Excel to open the file to insert a line chart, and then you can check whether the problem disappears.

Finally, may I know your Excel version?

    Best regards,

    Cindy

    Hi esong_98,

Pretty thank you for your reply and share which solution works. We are glad to hear your problem has been solved.

As for “I'm not sure what the problem was”, we think the problem is the workbook is corrupted by unknown reasons. Because we can’t determine what point causes the problem, so, we think the best solution is to create a new workbook and use the new one instead of the problematic workbook to eliminate all unknown settings or other things.

Finally, I also wish you all the best. 😊 Have a good day!

    Best wishes,

    Cindy

    Thanks.

The first option did not work as Bounds and Units were not given as an option. However, when I opened up a new workbook, the time line was properly charted. I'm not sure what the problem was.

    Version 16.47.1

    Thanks

I created a new workbook, and both the table and time series chart were displayed correctly. I then deleted the two other sheets. The first worksheet must have been corrupted.
