disappearing VBA editor buttons - Excel 365

Hi, everytime I edit VBA I need quick access to the "Comment Block" and "Uncomment Block" commands - however I keep having to add these everytime I open a file to edit the code. If I close the editor, and Alt+F11 again, the two icons are still there, but as soon as I close Excel and reopen, the toolbar buttons are gone. Does anyone else find this? Such a waste of time adding the same buttons everytime I open a new file

    Hi DZ_578,

I apologize for all the trouble it has caused and sorry about your time.

As per your description, I have tested form my side when I add “Comment Block “and “Uncomment Block” to VBA editor via go to View>Toolbars>Customise>or right click on the tool bar and select Customise>under the Commands tab, I select the Edit menu on the left. Then approximately two thirds of the way down there's two icons, Comment Block and Uncomment Block. Drag and drop these onto toolbar to easy access to highlight a block of code. However, when I closed Excel file and reopen again Excel file then I use Alt+F11 shortcut key to open again VBA editor and added button are still there and it seem work fine form my side. See image below for your reference:

To move further, please try the following steps and see if it works for you.

    1. Make sure you’ve updated Office to the latest version that some issues can be resolved with such method.
    2. Try open your Excel insafe mode which allow you to safely use it when it has encountered certain problems.
    3. If still can’t work, please try torepair an Office application to fix the problem.

If the issue still persists, could you please provide some information for us to better understand.

    1. What’s your Excel version? Open Excel > File > Account > Production Information and share a screenshot of it.  (Please mask your private information.)
    2. Does the issue happens on all files or a specific one?

I appreciate your patience and understanding.

    Best Regards

Hi Waqas thank you for the reply

    1. This is managed by my IT Department but I believe we are on O365 latest release channel
    2. I started excel in safe mode and the buttons I just added are still missing as with normal mode
    3. this is a major step and will disrupt my work significantly so if this is the only fix then I will just live with the problem. Nothing else is malfunctioning in my Office Apps - this is the only issue.
    4. see attached
    5. happens on all files

Please take a look at the attached and let me know if any suggestions?

    Hi DZ_578,

We appreciate that you posted back and shared updates with us. We also appreciate that you spent your precious time doing those tests. I’m sorry for the late reply.

To move further, could you please confirm does issue happen to other users in your organization.

Meanwhile, to check this issue caused by the incompatible add-ins, you can disable add-ins by this way: Open Excel>add-ins>Disable add-ins. For reference: disable application add-ins and COM add-ins

I appreciate your patience and understanding.

    Best Regards

    Waqas Muhammad

    Hi Waqas,

Pleased to announce that I've found the source of the problem and solved it. Thanks for your help.

Incidentally - some feedback on the product (about feedback collection as it happens). This popup box is appearing almost every time I use the product and is extremely annoying (I'm actually so annoyed and irritated by it interrupting my work that I've actually gone to the trouble of writing an autohotkey routine to quickly automatically hide the window whenever it appears - that's a measure of how inconsiderate Microsoft's product design has now become). If you could somehow relay this comment back to the developers that there should be a clear option available to switch these feedback prompts off, I would be very grateful, thanks.
