Adding Headers on SharePoint Online

How do you add a header on subsites that are associated with a group (either public or private) for a team site SharePoint Online? I am able to add headers on subsites not associated with a group and also a new page under the subsite but not on the automatically generated homepage for the subsite. I have been creating entirely new pages and changing the navigation to make that page act like the homepage but it is quite tedious.

    Hi Bao-Nhi Vu,

Thank you for posting in this community.

In General, we can customize the Headers using the Text web part. And based on my test, it is available on a Team subsite homepage. And the below picture shows my test result.

And for more information, please refer to this article: Add text and tables to your page with the Text web part

Otherwise, if your idea is to customize the left-hand menu on the team subsite, please refer to this article: Customize the navigation on your SharePoint site

If your issue persists, could you please share a screenshot of this team subsite homepage and another page with the headers for a better understanding?

    Best Regards,

    May

I was wondering how to add/edit page headers to a subsite rather than text headers. On some of my subsites, they have page headers with the title of the page. For some reason, the subsites associated with a group are the ones where I am unable to edit the header/have one in. The only way I can do that is by adding a page to the subsite and making it the new homepage but I was wondering if there was another solution.

    Hi TunaNB,

    Thank you for asking.

If you’re referring to add the header for the SharePoint Site/Subsite Home page, I am sorry to convey that it’s not possible to achieve it as how we can do in the Site Pages created in the SharePoint Site or SharePoint Subsite. Moreover, if you want to edit the name of displayed at the top of SharePoint Site Home Page or SharePoint Subsite Home page, which is referred as the name of Site or Subsite, you can edit the name by just clicking the Gear icon in the top right-hand corner of the site, then choose site information. See screenshot:

    Best Regards,
