SharePoint List strange behavior - conditional formatting lost after reload

Hi all,

I met a very strange situation that my conditional formatting to a column of list was missing after I refresh/reload/update the list:

Here's my conditional formatting to the first column:

first, I generated a calculated column named "Daydiff" to show the difference between current date and feed date;

then, I created a rule for the first column, when the 'Daydiff' is greater than 7, it shows red; when it's greater than 4, it shows pink; else green.

It works so far, as below:

And if I change the "Feed date", the color changed too:

But then, if I reload the page, it stop working:

And then I check the rule, found that the "greater than" or "less than" operator are missing:

And I can't even change it back to "greater than":

So I tried something else, like adding a new calculated column, or edit the "Daydiff" column in "List setting":

(I changed the data type from number to text here)

THEN, it works again!

And then I reload it again...... and it stop working again. lol

Anyone have any idea about this issue?

Thanks!

    Hi Ianlan,

Thanks for posting in the community.

According to your description, I have tested on my side, it works well, and I can’t reproduce the same situation. To troubleshoot the issue further, I would like to collect more information.

    1. Since the conditional format works well when you change the value and the issue only happens when you refresh the page, do your colleagues view the same situation after you edit the value?
    2. Does the issue exist in a specific list or also in other lists?

If your colleagues can view the same situation (refresh the page and the conditional format displays the wrong color) and the issue exists in other lists, I would like to suggest you contact your admin/IT department and ask them to access Microsoft 365 Admin Center> Health, check whether there are any related service incidents in your tenant. If so, please wait for the repair. If not, please post back and let me know.

    Regards,

    George

    Hi George,

Thanks for your reply. I have ask some other people to test the list, they can see the correct page, and after they refresh the page, it's till there.

So I tried on my site with different browsers: using Chrome and Edge, I still got the issue (after refresh, the conditional formatting lost; in other word, after refresh, the calculated column is forbidden to use any operator other than "equal" and "not equal").

But only when using Internet Explorer, I got the right page regardless how I refresh the page.

So It seems to be some problem on my site. But do you have any idea what that could be?

    Thank you!

    Regards

    Hi Ianlan,

    Thanks for posting back.

According to your description, I assume you mean other users can’t reproduce the same issue on their sides. If so, please try to update your browser (Chrome or Edge) to the latest version, then check again.

If the issue still exists, I would like to suggest you switch to another Windows user profile (if you don’t have another Windows user profile, please create a new Windows user profile, then switch to the new user profile) Or you can use another device, access the list and check again.

When you have any updates, please feel free and come back to share with us.

    Regards,

    George
