Can Azure App gateway and APIM be created in two different VNETs and traffic from App gateway can be routed to APIM for API calls?

I have an existing App Gateway in Subscription-1 and I would like to create APIM in Subscription-2. Both are using in 2 different VNETs. Is this possible? if yes what are the pros and cons. According to Microsoft document, it sounds like both App Gateway and APIM need to be created in the same VNET. Thanks.

@Nimble Pro This is possible through VNET Peering and while there are some documented constraints, peering is heavily used when working across VNETs, across Subscriptions and even across Tenants.

If you require a VNET Gateway based on your scenario, there would be some added latency though.
