PST Import Process failed "matches multiple entries please use guid"

We are trying to use the O365 PST Import process.  The PSTs are not importing and simply say they Completed with Errors.  To troubleshoot, I'm using O365 powershell to run the new-mailboximportrequest command.  I'm finding the mailboxes we are trying to import to say they match multiple entries.  I've done every kind of search I can think of and there is only one instance of these UPNs.  I even looked in msol deleted users and in soft deleted mailboxes.  I've search on recipient, mailbox, and user.  Everything comes up with one and only one instance of the UPN/email address being used to import to.

Getmailbox -softdeletedmailbox but nothing comes up checked even Azure AD no luck....

I know I could use the Exchange GUID to perform the import; however, we have MANY MANY mailboxes and psts to import.  Looking up GUIDs for every mailbox would be a pain and nigh mare .  I not sure why it thinks there are multiple matches.

I badly need help to resolve this..

Hi, I'm Elise, and I'd be happy to help with your issue.

Usually exchanges only matches the first part of the email address before the domain, this can often cause issues when doing this type of operation, if you have ******@domain1.com and ******@domain2.com as they would be class as the same entry.

Unfortunately you best bet for resolving this is to use the GUID for the account reference.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

    Kind Regards,

    Elise
