One Drive will not download multiple files

One Drive is not letting us download more than one file at a time, nor download complete folders (possible zipping glitch?) We try selecting one file and it downloads successfully. We add a second file to be downloaded and the interface does nothing. No pop up window notifying us that our download is zipping or anything. Same when attempting to download a folder.

Single files work fine.

Multiple files do nothing.

Note: We're frequent users of One Drive at our business, so this is a new development. Downloading multiple files has not been an issue in the past.

Hi All,

The issue you all encountered was related to service incident OD316670 - External users are unable to download multiple items in OneDrive which is resolved as of Friday, January 21, 2022, at 7:07 PM UTC

More info: Impact was specific to external users' accessing shared files via an anonymous link.

This issue only occurred when users were attempting to download more than one file per attempt. Users could circumvent this issue by downloading files individually, although we understand that this may have not be a feasible option for those performing larger operations.

Start time: Thursday, January 13, 2022, at 8:19 PM UTC

End time: Friday, January 21, 2022, at 7:07 PM UTC

Tenant administrators can view current information and updates on Service health dashboard at the link here:

Please check again at your end to confirm if the issue is resolved.

Regards,

Neha

We have the same Problem with different Browsers, Computers, diffrent locations and different Onedrive spaces(located in different countries). Multiple files or folders are not downloadable. Some days ago it worked.

So it is absolutely a Onedrive problem.

    Hi Microsoft,

As of yesterday we are also having the same problem. I have sent links to many people and every one of them have said they can see the files and even download individual files but can not download folders. We send a lot of files so this is completely impractical.

We are not doing anything different from what we usually do so this is clearly a One Drive issue that has developed in the last day or so.

Is there a setting somewhere that has turned on that does not allow folders to be downloaded?

    Hi Tin,

The graphic above shows exactly how we try to download multiple files at once. For us, it appears that this process stops before OneDrive packages up the zip file.

We have tried on Firefox, Chrome, and on 3 different workstations at our business with the same results. Our clients who we are making data deliveries to on a routine basis also report that they're unable to download in the same way we have always done. This issue is new (within the last few days), but is presenting itself beyond just our business.

We have the exact same issue.

    Tin, Thanks for you help!

    2 things.

    1. Are you logged in when you try and recreate?
    2. How are you sharing the file during your recreation? I've noticed that it only happens when we share with the setting "Anyone with a link can view".

If you share within the organization, or with an authenticated email, then the download works.

I was on a call with a consultant and he said that microsoft was not letting the zip process (aka multiple files) execute unless a user was signed in or authenticated. Did microsoft change security settings here in the past few weeks to where this no longer works without an account or authentication?

I also reached out to microsoft admin support and they did not provide much help.
