Unable to Click & Drag to Expand Columns or Resize Formula Editor bar

In the last 18 hours I have lost the ability to highlight a column (or group of columns) and double click at the top of the column to resize the columns. The <-|-> symbol does not appear when I move my cursor to the top row between two columns, either.

I have googled & tried everything suggested to fix this issue, with no resolution.

For the sake of argument these are the things I have already done:

  • Checked that the Enable fill handle and cell drag-and-drop box is checked
  • Updated Excel version
  • Removed Excel, restarted my computer & downloaded it again
  • Opened Excel in Safe Mode

On top of the inability to resize columns (without highlighting each individual column and selecting Format, Column Width and entering a number), I am missing the little "+" sign that used to show up when I clicked on a cell & moved my cursor to the lower right corner of the cell - so I cannot double click to fill down. I am also unable to resize the Formula Editor bar.

Any additional suggestions?

    Hi NVGAmberV,

Sorry for the inconvenience the problem caused for you.

Per your description, you have problems in Excel.

Since you have already tried most of the suggestions, you could try the following suggestions:

    1. Try to fix Office client, by performing a repair. Try a quick repair first, and if that doesn't work, try the online repair.
    2. You can perform a clean boot in Windows to determine whether a background program is interfering with Office program.

If the problem persists, could you please provide a screenshot of your Office Product Information(open Excel>File>Account>capture a screenshot of the Product Information column)

    Best regards,

    Jazlyn
