Bitlocker nightmare

Question

My Laptop completed a windows system update last night. When opened the bitlocker screen presented itself to me. Having looked online and being directed to account to get the bitlocker key, I noticed my 2 step verification was an old mobile, no other notification option. Stupidly I updated my mobile! Now I can access my account fully - including Xbox (kids are furious). Anyone have any fixes? The online tech support to get round this is 0! I have completed several ‘forms’ to have the account unlocked, but nothing back so far today!

Thank you. The message confirms that you’ll have to await the 30 day period then you should be able to receive the code on your new phone number.

This is the message that comes up in any area of the account when Accessed - same screen when trying to log into Xbox, one drive etc

Yes, Once the 30 days are up then you should be able to receive the code via the new number.

I would expect that the xBox is using the same Microsoft account that is now locked, so any device connected to it would also be locked.

Do you receive any message when you try to access the account?

Thanks for the reply, really appreciate it. Worth a shot, hoped someone else has been through this and perhaps knew a solution. Frustratingly I can access my account but not the bitlocker key for my laptop! Not sure why the system stops my son from logging into his favourite games though? Very weird and frankly absurd given the amount of money Microsoft takes off me each year! Now I’m locked out for a month?

Sorry to hear you’re experiencing problems.

If you’re asked to wait 30 days after changing the phone number to restore access then unfortunately there’s no way to circumvent this as it is a security feature.

If not then is there any message as to why you cannot access your account?
