I am sorry for the bad news G.W. I wish you a great day ahead and all the best for the merging process.

Hi,
I made some mistakes after my unit was strongly encouraged to shift everything to our org's SharePoint. I only recently noticed that I ended up with two versions of one of my notebooks. I'm hoping that there is a way to merge an exported package into the preferred-location version without creating a huge swarm of duplicate items.
p.s. I'm running Office Pro Plus 2019 in a very complicated enterprise environment.

Thanks, Jaspreet. I'm told that de-duping during database merges is always an ugly thing, so I'm not that surprised at your answer. Never hurts to hope though!

Hello G.W.,
I am not sure if this is exactly what you want but you can merge sections into another notebook via the steps here : https://www.thewindowsclub.com/how-to-move-sect...
If you are trying to merge two notebooks and replace duplicate content automatically sadly that won't be possible. This will have to be manually done with merging sections that are missing.
