Hi AndieGuess,

In Microsoft Forms, you can easily view all of the response data for your form or quiz in Microsoft Excel. An Excel workbook with your response data will be downloaded to your desktop or stored in OneDrive, depending on the starting point of your form or quiz.

The method you select to create a form determines where your Excel workbook will be stored:

  1. If you created a form with Forms on the Web, every time you click Open in Excel, an offline, standalone workbook will be downloaded to Excel desktop.
  2. If you created a form in OneDrive for Business, every time you click Open in Excel (in the Responses tab), Excel for the web will open with a workbook automatically saved to OneDrive for Business. Response data - such as annotations, formulas, and functions - syncs with your workbook and you'll see the latest updates each time you click Open in Excel or re-open the workbook.
  3. If you created a form in Excel Online, the behavior will be same as mentioned in #2.

For detailed information, see Microsoft Forms and Excel workbooks

Besides, if you wanted to record the email address, please ensure you are sharing the form either with Only people in my organization can respond or Specific people in my organization can respond and the option Record name is checked.

If you need any help, let me know, I will be happy to assist.

Regards,

Neha

    Hi AndieGuess,

In Microsoft Forms, when you want users to fill the form without signing into an account, you need to select "Anyone" option, but this option does not record names, forms are submitted anonymously.

In this case, if it fits your requirement, you can create a new text question to collect the name and make it Required.

Besides, please consider giving your feedback in Microsoft Forms feedback portal to let the product group know your requirement. This is the quickest route to get your feedback to the developers’ ears.

    Regards,

    Neha

Thank you, I will have to have a question in the form for the email address of those filling out the form outside of my organization since I do not require a sign in to Microsoft. I am the only person in my organization, so that would defeat the purpose of the form for my customers since they are not part of my organization.

In google forms they just had a collect emails in settings that one would click and the form automatically collected the emails exporting them to google sheets that was connected. I thought Microsoft would have a similar solution.
