    Hello,

This forum is a user-to-user support forum. My name is Charles and I am a fellow user with decades of experience using Microsoft Word. I have written extensively on using Word and have authored help articles on the Microsoft site.

This depends on how careful you are when you select your text for copying. If you are copying the paragraph mark or line break from the original, then that will be included when you paste. If your source is in Word, you can turn on display of those non-printing formatting marks and make sure you do not include them in your copy.

Here is a page by Word MVP Suzanne Barnhill on these marks:

This is a link to a trusted Word MVP website or blog. It contains accurate safe information that I think will help you.

    I hope this information helps.

You can clear the check mark next to "Use smart paragraph selection" at File > Options > Advanced to discourage Word from automatically including the paragraph mark as you use the mouse to select text.

However, even with that option cleared, you will have to be a bit careful so that the selection doesn't grow larger than you intended it to be.

Displaying nonprinting marks will help (see http://wordfaqs.ssbarnhill.com/NonprintChars.htm). You can use the ¶ icon on the Home tab to toggle their display.

Did you try displaying the non-printing marks?
