<removed> this is dumb. Stop. When I select a word, I just want that word.

This is especially important when that word is a username or password.

Don't tell me about any dumb works arounds.

I just want to double click a word and get exactly that.

    Hello Patrick,

This forum is a user-to-user support forum. My name is Charles and I am a fellow user with decades of experience using Microsoft Word. I have written extensively on using Word and have authored help articles on the Microsoft site.

I feel your pain. There are several items in Advanced Options that you would think would cover this, but they do not. As far as I know, there is no user option or even registry setting to handle this.

I think that they think that you want to get rid of that space when cutting, but I do not really want to copy it! This is frustrating.

My workaround is to use Shift+Left Arrow to deselect the space.

    Send feedback!

Please don't shoot the messenger! I am a fellow user trying to help you use the Office that is rather than the one that should be. If you assign a rating to my response, please rate my response, rather than how you feel about the program!

The people who can make changes to Word seldom, if ever, read anything that is posted in this help forum. This Community is just a user to user support forum; however, you can provide feedback to the Office developers by going to File - Account and click the Frown Face at the top right. Or you can reach it under help or use the Feedback Hub. https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/f... The more people that report this, the more likely the developers are to fix it. If you post in the Feedback Hub, please put a link to that back in this thread so that others can vote for your suggestion.

If you do, you can include a link to this thread to further explain the problem.

    I hope this information helps.

    Stay well
