OneNote Sync Errors and Exporting Notes from OneNote

I have been dealing with sync errors in OneNote for a while now. I, therefore, would like to export my notes so that I avoid sync errors. However, following the instructions in this document (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/export-and-import-onenote-notebooks-a4b60da5-8f33-464e-b1ba-b95ce540f309?ui=en-us&rs=en-us&ad=us), I was unable to export my OneNote notes from the web version because I didn't see the option to export when following these instructions: "Under My Notebooks, right-click (PC) or Control-click (Mac) the name of the notebook that you want to export, and then click Export notebook."

Could you please help me?

Also, do you have any idea what could be causing my NoteBook to have so many sync errors. Is there a maximum size for a OneNote notebook?

Hi Ali_J97,

I go through the post carefully, may I know do you use OneDrive for Business with account assigned by your organization? If so, as you can see Note part from the link: “Exporting and importing notebooks through OneNote for the web is only available for notebooks stored on personal OneDrive accounts, not for notebooks stored on OneDrive for Business or SharePoint. The option could not be available if you are using OneDrive for business.

As for sync error in OneNote, the reason is complicated if you meet sync error, it is better to split your large notebook into multiple ones to avoid sync delay. And there are sometimes if some sections get corrupted, they will get sync error and cannot be synced. Please check “Know your storage limit” part for more information: Best practices for syncing notes in OneNote (microsoft.com)

If you can see your notes from OneNote for the web, you may open the notebooks from OneNote 2016 and export them from the app. If you get issue when open notebook from the app, try creating new notebooks, copy sections from your previous notebook to the new one and check if you can open the new notebook from OneNote 2016. If you can, you may try spilt the notebook and export them in separates.

Best Regards,

Clark

Also, I know using OneNote2016 is an option, but I can't get my notes to sync there for some reason, so I need to export them from the web version.
