Data Validation To Prompt a Dropdown to Generate A Block of Cells

I'm terrible with Excel and even 24 hours ago I will admit you would have received a blank look from me were you to ask about Data Validation. I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to have a drop down for each of the vehicles referenced in each of these tabs. Is that even possible?

***EDIT***

To clarify, I'm looking to be able to pull the info from each tab (see the below image for the info displayed in '5') in a drop down. So Ideally I'd have a page with a drop-down listed from 5-RP2 and when I select 5 all the data seen below would populate. Is that possible?

When I hit enter, the result I want populates (as seen in the above pic) but this error message pops up and when I hit 'OK' it all vanishes. Along with any last vestiges of hope I have in this world. Please help me.

    Hi Emma_roc

Thanks for posting the thread on our forum.

As per your description, please don’t worry we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation.

If you wan to create a dropdown list in cells. You can follow the steps below:

    1. If you want to create drop down menu for a specific cell, select the cell, then click Data tab>Data validation>In settings tab, select List in the drop-down menu under Allow.

    Image

    Image

    1. In the Source field, type all of the options that you want in your drop-down list, separated by commas, such as yellow, blue, red, black or just Yes, No.

    Image

    1. Then you can see the result as the screenshot below:

    Image Image

    1. Meanwhile, if you want to create drop-down List from a Range of Values, instead of typing values into the Source field, you want to select the icon to the right.

Then will open up a small window in the screen, select the a range of cells on the worksheet, such as the screenshot below (test1-test10):

Then the window will auto-fill the range of the data you selected>click the right icon again>Click ok. Now, the values in the range that you've selected show as options that you can choose from in your drop-down list.

Hope the suggestion can help you.

    Regards,

    Stacey

    Hi there

    Please, try the following steps

    1. On a new sheet or any other place/sheet in the workbook

Create a list of all the vehicles in the inventory.

    1. Select the list and give it a Named Range per example "Vehicles"

    1. Then select the cell you want to have the Dropdown
    2. Go to Data/ Data Validation/ Select List, and Source =Vehicles

    And off we go

Then simply copy and paste the Data Validation dropdown list to all the other sheets

I hope this helps you and gives a solution to your problem

Do let me know if you need more help

    Regards

    Jeovany

I understand how to make a dropdown list. I need to know how to make a dropdown list that populates that corresponding car's data.
