SharePoint 2016 Switch to HTTPS from HTTP

I recently converted traffic from an existing SharePoint 2016 server from HTTP to HTTPS. The issue I'm having is that traffic is not always redirecting to HTTPS, some of the time it's still going to HTTP. Is this an IIS issue or SharePoint configuration? I edited the Public URLs and set the default zone to https://SPServerName and have alternate access mapping for http://SPServerName going to the default zone.

What am I missing that is still allowing HTTP connections?

Do I need to remove the HTTP protocol from IIS binding? Will this break any existing user's bookmarks (favorites) from working?

Background:

I have a 2-server setup for this small environment and a SQL instance. I configured the frontend server but didn't change the application server.

Your help is appreciated.

Since you are using SharePoint 2016, we’ll suggest you post in SharePoint Server forum for expert assistance.

The reason we are requesting to post a new thread is that, in Answers forum, we deal with the issues/queries related to SharePoint online and in SharePoint online, the traffic by default directs to https and there’s no setting to change that, so we have no knowledge about your scenario and also about SharePoint 2016/2019 environment.
