Duplicate values in filter by box. SharePoint List

Question

Hi There,

Here is an image of the issue I am facing, there shouldn't be duplicates in this list. I have double-checked, and "attacked device" is spelt exactly the same and has the same amount of spaces. You can see from the second image that it is a choice field and attacked device is an option and has only been entered once.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? How can I fix it? Having to click on these items twice is adding a lot of extra time to the work that should be simple.

According to description you are facing an issue with duplicates in filter pane. We tried to test the similar symptoms on our side, but we couldn’t reproduce it.

To narrow down the source of the issue we kindly ask you to provide some additional information:

1. May I know if you have the duplicate values with another columns or it applies only to a choice column?
2. Do you experience the similar issue with another lists?
3. What browser do you use to open SharePoint list? Try to change the browser or open list InPrivate (incognito) mode and confirm if the issue persists.
4. Do the other users face the same issue?
5. Try to open the list in Lists web application on Office 365 portal and tell if the filter pane is displayed correctly.

Thank you for your prompt response.

Answers to your questions in order:

1. Looks like all my choice columns are doing this not just the one I used for the example, but not other types of columns.
2. Just the one list - it is my biggest list with over 3000 rows.
3. I've been using Chrome, but just tested it in Edge and had the same problem.
4. Yes, the users brought it to my attention.
5. Tried it, the issue still persists.

As you mentioned this is a large list and the issue occurs for different users and browsers, we suppose the source of this problem may lay in list view. Please refer to this article for detailed information how to use filtering to modify a SharePoint view (microsoft.com)

Hello Lourika,

May I know if you tried to add indexes to your columns and modify a view in a classic view editor?

Please let us know if the problematic column is using any conditional formulas. If it is possible, please share the screenshots of the column settings.
