So I was downloading word and other office 365 applications to my computer through my university, (University of ***) and i accidentally clicked "make this computer part of the organization" and now it is making my change things about my computer. When I try to leave the organization it says that the University is my home organization and won't let me leave.

Hi Philip Meier,

Welcome to community.

I go through the post carefully. It seems like you have signed in Office apps provided by university and clicked "make this computer part of the organization". You want to leave the organization.

My I know if my understanding of the scenario is consistent with yours?

If yes, may I know how do you try to leave the organization and get the message which doesn't let you leave? Could you share your steps and a screenshot about the message?

In addition, generally, when we sign in Office apps at the first time by using an Microsoft 365 work or school account, we will get a pop up window as below. Is it the one you accidently clicked make computer part of the organization?

If yes, have you tried following steps?

If we don't want allow organization to manage device, but we have clicked the option "Allow my organization to manage my device", we can also try steps below:

1.Firstly, sign out your account from Office apps. Close all Office apps.

2.Open Windows Settings, go to Accounts > Access work or school. If you find your account appearing in the list, click it and click Disconnect > Yes.

3.Open an Office app, Word, sign in your account again, when the window pops up, uncheck the option "Allow my organization to manage my device", and click "No, sign in to this app only" at bottom, as shown below.

If I misunderstand the scenario, feel free to post back and let me know, I will continue trying best to help you.

Many thanks for your patience and effort. Hope you have a nice day and stay safe.

Best Regards,

Tina
