Syncing issues (Error code: 0xE0000229)

The OneNote 2016 desktop app will not sync a page from my Content Library. There are no issues when I open the Class Notebook via the web, but the issue has not resolved and the same error message appears "OneNote can't sync this page. Please don't edit this page for a short time while we attempt to fix the issue. (Error code: 0xE0000229)"

It has stayed on this error code for four days...

Hi Arck,

I tried this when I first tried to troubleshoot the problem and it did not resolve the issue.

To fix the problem, I created a new folder and copied into it everything from the original folder - this did not copy over the corrupt page that I also found. I then deleted the original folder that had the corrupt page. When I synced this a notebook again on the desktop app, the original folder reappeared, so I had to delete it again. Each time I deleted it and synced my Notebook from the desktop app, the folder would reappear even though it was ‘permanently deleted’. So I deleted it from the web version of OneNote, did a manual sync from there, and it finally permanently deleted from the desktop app.

Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the community, I'm glad to offer help.

According to your description, since the notebook can be opened properly via the web app, please first right-click the notebook to close it in the desktop app, then reopen it to see if it can back to sync.+

If that doesn't help, you can try to refer to the following article to fix the sync issue: Fix issues when you can't sync OneNote (microsoft.com)
