Help please!!!!

I saved a chart as a template, later went to open it so that I can create a new chart using the template and its not even coming up in Excel. Turns out it just keeps saving to my computer files and cannot be opened by any apps. It is just a normal column chart, nothing special. This is urgent as it is for a class and is due in 36 hours.

Please help me fix this!!

What do you mean by "saved a chart as a template"? Do you mean that you saved the Excel workbook as an Excel Template (*.xltx) or Excel 97-2003 Template (*.xlt).?

What apps are you trying to open it with?

If you want to create a new workbook from such a template, use File>New and select the template. When you do that, the workbook that is created will have filename with a number appended to the name of the template.

Thanks for your response, I should have been more clear. I was working with data in a spreadsheet and made the data into a column chart... I saved as a chart template. Now I am not even able to open the chart template in Excel to create a chart with other data. I have redone the assignment twice and I keep getting stuck here

To use a Chart Template that you have saved, on the Insert Tab of the Ribbon in Excel, click on Recommended Charts and then in the Insert Chart dialog, click on the All Charts tab and then on Templates. You should then see the Chart template that you saved.

Can you send me a copy of the Chart Template and the Workbook in which you want to use it, referencing this thread in the covering email message and I will investigate the issue.
