Outlook tasks in OneNote

When marking an Outlook task as completed that has been created by using OneNote, I've noticed that the red flag has only been replaced by a green check mark in the OneNote desktop app. The red flag in Teams/online version of OneNote has not been replaced.

What is the reason for this sync problem and how can this be solved?

    Hi B.V._28,

    Sorry for my late reply.

According to your description, I have tested on my side again, and I can reproduce the same issue. Although these notebooks sync well in OneNote while the task completed tag won’t be updated to the online notebook (it still displays the task tag). It should be an issue for OneNote. Sorry for the inconvenience that happens to you.

Based on the situation, I would like to suggest you report the issue to Microsoft via File> Feedback. It’s the platform for us to hear your voice and improve our products.

    Appreciate your understanding and patience.

    Regards,

    George

Apparently OneNote for the web does not support commands that work with Microsoft Outlook.

Any idea if this will be solved in the near future? If Teams is supposed to be the hub for teamwork, then it's a pity that Outlook tasks which have been delegated to team members in OneNote are not updated in the Teams environment.

    Thank you.

Thank you for your quick reply, George.

I've tried to follow the steps, but I already encounter a problem when trying the first step: although it is possible for me to change the flag to a green check mark by clicking once in OneNote desktop app, I'm not able to change the flag by clicking in the online version. Somehow this seems to be disabled.

The problem exists in all notebooks.

    Hi B.V._28,

Thanks for posting in the community.

According to your description, the change hasn’t been synced to online. The issue may be caused by many reasons. Please try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.

~~1. Please mark the task in the online notebook.~~

~~2. Make sure the online notebook has the latest content. If not, please manually copy/paste these changes to the online notebook. After that, close the notebook in the OneNote application.~~

~~3. Open the online notebook in the browser, click “Open in app” to sync it again. Check whether the sync issue still exists.~~

If the sync issue still exists, may I know whether it exists in one specific notebook or all notebooks that opened in the OneNote application?

    Regards,

    George
