    Hi Gardener Pacific NW,

Thank you for querying in this forum.

I go through the post carefully and understand you want to change font color to red when you enter data to cells in Excel.

You may refer to this article to create your own color theme and pick the color red under Theme Colors, Text/Background - Dark 1. Then in the Name box, type a name for the new theme colors, and click Save.

Change a theme and make it the default in Word or Excel (microsoft.com)

Hope above can help you. Have a nice day!

    Best regards,

    Tina

Thank you for offering to help but I don't want to change all of the font to red, just new entries. Project is a huge inventory work sheet with multiple versions given to different people. Each person is entering some data and I want the newly entered data to be a different color from the original -ideally, different for each person entering data, which is black. That way it is easier to see the updates and which person made them by looking at the text color.

I tried the theme thing and it did not change the automatic text color.

Re: "easier to see the updates"

The free "Professional Compare" workbook will compare two entire worksheets and generate a new worksheet with a list of every cell that is different and the cell contents.
You also have a choice of the type of comparison to make, such as all changes or changes

to text only or numbers and more.

    Hi Gardener Pacific NW,

Thank you for posting back and sharing the details about your requirement.

I'm afraid there is no out of box feature in Excel to set the newly entered data to be different color for each person entering data in the worksheet. Very sorry for the inconvenience caused.

I sincerely recommend sharing your valuable feedback via File>Feedback within Excel. Feedback submit by this way directly goes to the related team. This is the best way to let the developers know your requirements and help to improve the product. Thanks for your understanding.

In the meantime, you may also post the question in Microsoft Q&A Community and see if there is any customized methods can meet your requirement. It is the specific channel handling customization questions in Office.

We will also keep this thread open so that other community members and MVPs can share insights and suggestions here.

We appreciate your patience and understanding. Hope you are keeping safe and well.

    Best regards,

    Tina
