for example, before i open the word document it is named MY SOA DOC - smith, john & when it is opened the name changes to MY SOA DOC - smith^J john and it saves this way - it does it all the time to all word documents ... it adds a ^J to the name

it has been occurring for quite sometime now ... word automatically changes the name of the document

The substitution is being made because your save location doesn't support commas in file names or paths. See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/why-has-my-filename-changed-from-comma-to-%5Ej-f14307b4-e9ff-4cd9-be79-9524bb323744.
