Upload Folder missing in some SharePoint sites

Question

Hello,

We have several SharePoint sites in our company. Some sites allow uploading folders and some do not. The sites definately look different. The ones that don't allow folders look like an older version of SharePoint. Is there a way to change this feature or do we have to recreate the old sites?

Older version with no folder option:

Thanks for sharing updates with us.

It seems return back to the modern experience, click Exit classic experience in the bottom left corner of the page is missing. I have tested from my side when I go to setting> library settings>Advanced settings and under List experience click on Classic experience then I also cannot see switching button/option at the bottom left corner of SharePoint online page.

To view switch option, please try to go Library Settings> Click Advanced settings and then scroll down to List experience and Choose the new experience. Closing the browser, open the browser again and navigate back to the library to see the result.

As per your description, please don’t worry, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation.

 As per your first mentioned screenshot, "Older version with no folder option:" it seems you are in classic experience view in SharePoint online document library. If you want to " Newer version with folder option:" you may need to navigate to the affected library, click Return to classic SharePoint at the bottom left corner of your SharePoint document library site and see the outcomes. See image below for your reference:
