Sharepoint Contact List - Adding a contact group

Hi There,

What the customer wants: A shared contacts folder, so that any individual contacts or group contacts can be added/modified/individual group contacts removed etc

What I want to do: create a contacts list in sharepoint and sync that with outlook

What I've got so far: I'm using our own internal sharepoint as a test environment so I don't bother the customer while I try and work this out. I have created a contact list on our sharepoint site. I eventually found how to sync it with outlook (this took forever thanks to screenshots/videos showing older versions of sharepoint)

Within outlook, I can create individual contacts fine. They sync with the sharepoint site, and vice versa. However I can't seem to add a contact group, it appears momentarily in the list of contacts and then disappears. I do get an error message but I'm not sure how to resolve this. Could someone please point me in the right direction?

I'm not advanced in sharepoint usage so may need to have this explained to a 5yr old :D

    Hi Tony LoftusTL,

I go through the post carefully, based on my test I can repro the same error on my side. we may get the error because Contact group could not be a valid item in Contact list in SharePoint, so Outlook cannot sync Contact group to Contact list and we will get the compatibility error. I am really sorry for the inconvenience this causes and would suggest you post in SharePoint feedback community at SharePoint · Community (microsoft.com) and give your feedback on the feature. Your feedback will promote the related developer team of SharePoint to improve the feature! Thanks for your efforts and understanding!

    Best Regards,

    Clark
