Resetting "Used Range" (memory limits)

I have a spreadsheet that is considering the "used range" to be A1:XFC1048087

If I try to delete even ONE row, I get an out of memory error. Note: there are no other worksheets in the file and all other windows are closed.

I'm HOPING I don't have to copy the data in to a new sheet and start over.

Any suggestions?

    Hi

My name is André. I am an independent consultant.

    >First of all make a backup copy of your file if you haven't already done so.

So we have a few attempts to solve your case.

First you need to know your computer's capabilities. since it's a very large spreadsheet, it may actually be consuming all of your computer's resources.

assuming your hardware is not a problem, try accessing excel in safe mode:

Open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows key + R. ...

Once the Run window opens, type 'excel /safe' in the input box next to 'Open'.

Press the Return key or click OK.

This will open Excel in Safe mode

    And try the operation again.

safe mode prevents excel from loading addins. This way we eliminate the possibility that some addin is influencing the operation.

Test, and tell if you got a good result.

answer here so I can continue helping you.

    André.
