Sync Downloading

I've been using Onedrive for years and have used the free up space feature. I'm to the point where my onedrive cloud has way more files than my computer can have on disk. For some reason my Onedrive has started syncing with my computer by trying to download all of my cloud files back onto my computer. I'm almost out of memory and all I can do to stop it is pause syncing or close Onedrive. What is going on? How can I stop this download attempt of more than 33,000 files. As soon as I open One drive it just starts downloading again.

Yes if you are unable to make space or reduce the files on onedrive then disabling the sync and using manual upload method will be a better choice.

External drive won't be a viable solution if there was an internal drive with enough space onedrive could have been moved to that drive for completing the sync. External drives cause issues with this moving process.

I have a1TB external but I don’t know how I would get sync to stop downloading to my computer and go there instead. Now I’m thinking I will uninstall the OneDrive app. to eliminate the sync download and save my computer space. Then just manually back up new files to OneDrive using the web. Do you see any problems with this idea? I know it’s not ideal but it seems like a good option for the situation.

Unfortunately if enough space is not provided the sync will be paused and OneDrive will show up an error if not enough space. Do you have another drive on this system that has more space?

What if I can’t create enough space? My Computer only has 30 gigs available but my onedrive is trying to download 212 gigs.

    Hello Broadsway,

    I am Jaspreet Singh.

You will need to let the sync complete the download first ( this means you need to create enough space for all the files) after that you will be able to set files on demand again.
