Hallo,

it seems that Onedrive has problem with hardlinks.

If you open Onedrive Settings / Account / Choose folders - than the Remaining space is not calculated correctly.

E.g.

  • remaining space on my HDD is 30GB
  • I have Folder with 100GB
  • I create Hardlink into Onedrive folder
  • Onedrive will calculate -70 GB!
  • and this is probably the case why it stops syncing correctly

Is something what I ca do with this?

    I mean:

    • I have my Onedrive folder e.g. "D:/OneDrive - Company" and my work folder e.g. "D:/Workfolder"
    • I create hardlink from work folder to Onedrive folder (I dont want to move the folder) - mklink /j "D:/OneDrive - Company\Workfolder" "D:/Workfolder"
    • As soon as Data are synchonised and I open Onedrive Settings / Account / Choose folders I will seen negative "Remaining space"

Right now I can not provide screenshot, because I deleted all my Onedrive data and I'm trying it again.

    Hi MaVisk,

Welcome to the commuinity and I am glad to help you.

Based on your descriptions, do you mean you run CMD to simlink /h OneDrive folder with another 100 GB folder, and OneDrive only shows whole files size 70 GB? To avoid misunderstanding, it will appreciate you can tell us more detailed steps you do with some screeshots.

On the other hand, for “it steps syncing correctly”, can you describe more in details? Any error message you meet? Before getting further information, you can first check this article to Fix OneDrive sync problems.

Please feel free to post back, and we will continue to help you in this thread.

    Regards,

    Rena
