How to reset authenticator app

Ok so this is a little confusing for me.

I had the authenticator app setup on my old phone and everything was great, then I had to get a new phone and when my authenticator app was reinstalled on my new iphone all my added accounts were gone.

the problem is that it appears the only way that I can add the account to the new phone is by having the app and account already setup. When I try to change any security settings on my account it says it sent a code to my authenticator app but I cannot see it as I cannot add the account.

This is a loop I have been stuck in now for a few days and I wondering if there is anything that I can do or am I screwed.

I have tried to reinstall the last icloud backup I done before switching and still no luck.

Hello, I’m Virginia, I have 20 years of expertise in fixing my own & friends’ PC problems.

Sorry to hear you’re experiencing problems.

When you installed the authenticator app you have the option of restoring from a backup which is underneath the set up an account/sign in, did this option appear? It is small so can be missed.

If iCloud backup is enabled then this should be included in the backup if selected.

You may have to uninstall the app then install it to see this option.
