Automatic DataType Not Showing in Data section of Excel Online

Hello,

I am using EMicrosoft® Excel® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2110 Build 16.0.14527.20332) 64-bit

On the main Data tab, I am looking for the Automatic DataType, but it only shows the three in the attached image

There is no up or down that is available and hitting the more icon show no new options.

I checked the Customize Ribbon - but see no option:

Anyone know why I can't get the Automatic option or does it even exist?

(What linked data types are available in Excel? (microsoft.com))

How do I add more?

Or is this an admin setting?

This MS video shows Automatic at the top:

Thanks,

V

    Hi SomeManyQuestions,

Thank you for querying in this forum.

From your description, it seems that you are using Excel for Current Channel, and you want to find Automatic DataType in Excel.

May I know if my understanding is right? If so, for the situation you encountered, we do understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it. And we have also tested it on our side with the latest version of Current Channel 2112 build 14729.20194, Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel (Preview) Channel 2108 build 14326.20702 and Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel 2012 build 13801.21092 with Microsoft Enterprise account, and we can reproduce the same situation as yours, as shown below:

And we also tested it in Excel Online and we can also reproduce the same situation as yours.

However, when we tested it with Microsoft Education account, we can see Automatic option in Current Channel 2112 build 14729.20194 channel and Excel for web, as shown below:

Given this situation, we have also searched a lot and we don’t find any official articles mentioned such limitation. And we can also reproduce the same situation as yours.

Given this situation, we do understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it. Since we can reproduce the same situation, we’d suggest you go to Excel > File > Feedback to report this issue. This feedback will directly go to them so that our related team can hear your voice on this feature directly. And we will also report this situation on our side.

If the scenario above is not consistent with yours, you can also post back and point that.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

    Best Regards,

    Sukie
