Change Source with Excel on Mac

Hi everyone!

I recently started to use a MacOs, and I'm having the following issue using excel. For my job I have to open a file and go to edit links and then change the source to replace the information from one file to another that I previously saved on my documents. When I do that, the excel application freeze and doesn't complete the process. Then I have to force the quit. I tried to modify some settings in preferences, such as enabling macros, and enabling trust access to the VBA project object model, but it didn't worked.

Could I get some help with this?

As per your description, “the excel application freeze and doesn't complete the process” when you try to edit links and change the source in Excel for Mac OS.

Based on my test result in Excel version 16.54 it seems i can change source in edit link without any issue on Mac OS.

Since, as you did not mention your Office 365 Excel version in your description, first of all please make sure your Office apps are fully updated. The latest version of Office 365 for mac is 16.54. To Check version information, open any Office app, such as Excel, go to the Excel menu and choose About Excel.

If the version appears lower, then manually update Office apps, click Help > Check for Updates from any of the Office app to get the latest build.

Then, please make sure your file system is OK.  starting by checking file system using Disk Utility. If there are file system problems, Disk Utility may be able to fix them.

Also, please try to operate a safe boot for Mac then the outcome. To operate the safe mode is to determine whether background programs are interfering with Office for Mac.
